A few months ago I was approached by Sofia Fiusco who was then the Executive Officer of Leadership Ballarat & Western Region. She wanted to create a film that showed the strength of the Indigenous participants in LBWR & the effect that their presence has had on other LBWR alumni. So we wanted to harness that strength, knowledge & inspiration in order to share their perspectives on Indigenous rights with the wider community.
My own experience getting to know Deb Milera during 2014 when we both participated in the program left a lasting impact on me & she certainly changed & influenced my thinking in a number of ways, so of course I jumped at the chance to create this film. I’m entirely grateful to Deb, Jon & Nikki for trusting me in sharing their stories & perspectives.
