Yet again my students have done me proud. I’ve been teaching this short course since I moved to Ballarat a few years ago & it’s always so exciting to watch people progress throughout the course. People start at all levels of experience, but mostly, noone really understands technical settings or has used manual mode before.
At week 4, just as the students have moved onto full manual mode & learnt to take a meter reading, they embark on a self directed documentary series. The idea is to choose a topic that inspires you & use techniques you’ve learnt along the way. Like getting creative with shutter speed, depth of field, light and composition. Here’s a couple of shots from each of their series, I hope you are as impressed as I am!
Oh and also really love getting lovely messages at the end, like this one from Liz:
“Just wanted to say thanks so much for a fabulous course! I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so much. I had forgotten how much I really love having a camera in my hand, so now I have a renewed enthusiasm and confidence! I thought the course was a perfect balance of theory and prac and I particularly enjoyed learning from all the images you showed us. Will never look at light in the same way again! Thank-you for sharing your expertise and passion for photography.”
Huge thanks to all the students for letting me show off their work!
